Div 5 (or Div X?) Checkpoints

Division 5

The first Div 5 teams are reaching checkpoints/water drops now. Trail Boys, at the head of the main pack on Gollaribee FT, appear to have reached the manned water drop at the intersection with Boundary FT.

Keep your eye on Ursula 5, who have taken the option to turn down Shoebridge Track. There are a bunch of teams around the entrance to the track but no other team has yet committed to that route.

Meanwhile, SexyDivXy appears to have reached (or are very close to reaching) the Corn Trail checkpoint in good time, and Yukeembruk 5 after a detour down Gollaribee Mountain Road have taken a connecting trail back on to Quark Pot Fire Trail to follow behind everyone else.

A costly endgame blunder

B&G 5 have appeared to go a little bit off course on the Endpoint approach, which might not always be so much of an issue... but in the time it's taken them to backtrack, they've lost around 30 minutes and been passed by both Griffin 5 and Fenner 5. There aren't any Div 5 teams close on their tails (other than Loughton's Lopers on the southern approach if they take a real long time), but every extra minute also decreases their potential score in the end… Read more.

Bruce 5 Finishes!

Bruce Hall has just finished Division 5! They're the first Bruce team to finish and 3rd in Div 5. It's always a beautiful sight to see a runner come down the chute with two packs on -- it's a sign that this team has given absolutely everything they have to finish this race as fast as is humanly possible, and it shows -- I barely made it to the end of the chute before they crossed the line!… Read more.

It's looking like a potentially close race into Endpoint, with Ursula approaching along Majors Creek Mountain Road from the south and Trail Boys neck and neck with Unilodge along the eastern approach. Missed turns and herd mentality

Three Div 5 teams appear to have gone the wrong way at a fork and then thought better of it. SexyDivXy, who were charging it up towards the Corn Trail checkpoint, missed the turnoff to head up to No Name Mountain Road but managed to correct losing only about 20 minutes. Wamburun 5, who initially looked like they were going to follow SexyDivXy up towards Corn Trail, have also turned around back on to Quark Pot Road, but have maybe lost closer to 30 minutes. Finally, Yukeembruk 5 initially turned up Bolaro Mountain Road back in the direction of drop site again after rejoining from Gully Road, but have turned around to chase behind the herd (but are seriously behind the main pack!)… Read more.

We are now getting a significant number of teams leaving the Div 5 drop site, all so far taking the western path except for one: Yukeembruk 5. They've taken a strange path down Gully Road which doesn't lead anywhere useful and will also take them quite close to several private property exclusions if they're not careful!
