It's looking like a potentially close race into Endpoint, with Ursula approaching along Majors Creek Mountain Road from the south and Trail Boys neck and neck with Unilodge along the eastern approach. Ursula has less distance to travel but still need to climb about 500m in the last stretches of the race, which might slow them down significantly. … Read more.

Much like RFK Jr B&G Div 3 dislike Corn (even when not in fizzy drinks), with them the only div 3 team avoiding the corn trail, will this pay off, who knows (the predictor thinks not). Meanwhile out on the corn trail it seems Fenner is seemingly ahead of tight pack of Bruce, Brug, Johns, Griffin and Yuukeembruk… Read more.

Jack has been convinced to be wheeled out of retirement for (at least) one more round of IB live commentary. Despite only having ran IB once in 2019 (practically ancient history), he for some reason feels entitled enough to rashly judge runners route choices snappily labelling them terms like suboptimal. Because it's been so long since he ran he might just be religiously listening to the opinions of the predictor algorithm (he created for last year's edition, with mild improvements for 2025) making them effectively the Statler and Waldorf of the commentary team… Read more.

Missed turns and herd mentality

Division 5

Three Div 5 teams appear to have gone the wrong way at a fork and then thought better of it. SexyDivXy, who were charging it up towards the Corn Trail checkpoint, missed the turnoff to head up to No Name Mountain Road but managed to correct losing only about 20 minutes. Wamburun 5, who initially looked like they were going to follow SexyDivXy up towards Corn Trail, have also turned around back on to Quark Pot Road, but have maybe lost closer to 30 minutes. Finally, Yukeembruk 5 initially turned up Bolaro Mountain Road back in the direction of drop site again after rejoining from Gully Road, but have turned around to chase behind the herd (but are seriously behind the main pack!)… Read more.

Finally the pack for Div 5 has broken up slightly, with Wamburun and SexyDivXy heading north up Hanns Rd while everyone else continues down Quark Pot Road / Firetrail. If they are committed to heading north, they will end up on the infamous Corn Trail: watch this space!… Read more.

We are now getting a significant number of teams leaving the Div 5 drop site, all so far taking the western path except for one: Yukeembruk 5. They've taken a strange path down Gully Road which doesn't lead anywhere useful and will also take them quite close to several private property exclusions if they're not careful!
