Drop Details

Division 3 are dropped at the 3-way intersection of Wallaby Rd, Lyons Rd & Mines Rd. With the longest scout time (61 minutes!) teams should hopefully be able to locate themselves correctly and leave dropsite via Wallaby or Lyons Rds. If teams instead take Mines Rd, they will only be digging themselves into a hole as this will add at least 10 kms to their route!

Routes Overview

The first decision for teams is how to cross the Kings Hwy. Most teams will likely cross at Hwy crossing 1 and will follow either Wallaby or Lyons Rd through to Currowan Camp for this option. Teams that take the other crossings are giving themselves a longer route, however crossing 2 doubles as a water drop for thirsty teams!

Once through the crossing, teams have to contend with a tricky bit of off-track navigation, following a spur down from Downfall FT to Spring Creek FT. While this route has tape to follow, this may not help teams at nighttime!

From here, teams can either choose to follow roads to the base of the Corn Trail, or bushbash onto the Corn Trail further up, near Div 6 drop. Either way, like with Div 2, teams will then follow the Corn Trail up the escarpment to Monga and onwards to EP!
