Drop Details

Division 2 are dropped along Backhouse Road, a few kms west of Shallow Crossing. With only 24 minutes of scout time, runners will have to be quick to make it to The River Rd, a great clue for picking drop! While teams can leave dropsite in either direction without a big disadvantage, they will be locked into certain routes depending on this early choice!

Routes Overview

Teams can choose to run south out of dropsite, taking the flatter option of The River Rd. This would results in teams likely crossing Kings Hwy at Hwy Crossing 3, where a small bushbash awaits them! They then follow Old Bolaro Rd to the base of the Corn Trail. Otherwise, teams may head along Clyde Ridge Rd, through Hwy Crossing 1. While this is a hillier route, there are options for bushbashing that can save on distance!

As will be a theme this year, these routes will all converge onto the Corn Trail (with some bushbashing options) which will take teams up the escarpment to Monga Ln, through Reidsdale and then all the way to Majors Creek & EP.

I spoke to Div X(2) Old Fenner and Bruce 3 in isolation before the race. Both of them promised radical bushbashing, with div 3 refusing to give me any answer that didn't directly allude to the straightline bushbash they were planning to send all the way from drop to endpoint and Old Fenner promising to "collect rule infringements like pokemon". Alas, they've been remarkably disciplined, with both teams staying on track and in bounds all race, and taking fairly optimal routes for that matter!… Read more.
