Griffin 1 reach the Brindabella Road crossing

Most of Brindabella Road is an exclusion zone, because it’s not safe for runners to travel along. However, there are a few zones that are marked as crossing points. Runners are allowed to cross at these specially-marked areas.
Griffin Division 1 are setting quite the pace. They are the first team to make it to a road crossing, well ahead of the other Division 1 teams.
It’s still early days, but it will be difficult for other teams to close this gap.

The predictor is now up and running!, at the start will be super volatile and likely under estimate time of arrival just after drop (over estimate eventual overall average GAP (Gradient Adjusted Pace)) as typically teams start off hot/fast (see below graph of speeds of historical IB teams) with it taking time for teams to settle in a rhythm and on a route. It also assumes optimal navving which is probably unlikely, only accounting for the terrain and distance of the optimal route ahead. This means it will also not consider other factors that may slow a team down like a trail being overgrown… Read more.

To potentially confuse the Division 1 navigators, the Course Setters have included some red-herring exclusion zones in the south part of the course, including a zone which is very cheekily listed as excluded for Divisions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 (ie. everyone except Division 1).
