Ursies Div 1 is no stranger to dropping blind.
The team consists of two division 1 veterans, Nick Stratton and Campbell Chesney, coupled with a retired elite swimmer; Bella Yates and second year powerhouse, Chapman Tanner.
Fun facts about the team:
Nav: Nick Stratton - Ran an 18:30 5km the day after 2023 IB Div 1
Assistant Nav: Bella Yates - Passed out on ACT 8h Champs after only eating an orange and an apple the entire rogaine, still managed to win Mixed Youth. Took home 2 mugs from 3 rogaines over the year.
Scout: Campbell Chesney - Loves a run from his house to Cotter Dam and back, one wall of his room is covered in maps from Tinderry to Kosci.
Scout: Chapman Tanner - Ran an extra 37km late one night as a cooldown from a 5km IB training run in early semester 1. Always seen repping out 2 plates on the bench at Club Lime.

The predictor is now up and running!, at the start will be super volatile and likely under estimate time of arrival just after drop (over estimate eventual overall average GAP (Gradient Adjusted Pace)) as typically teams start off hot/fast (see below graph of speeds of historical IB teams) with it taking time for teams to settle in a rhythm and on a route. It also assumes optimal navving which is probably unlikely, only accounting for the terrain and distance of the optimal route ahead. This means it will also not consider other factors that may slow a team down like a trail being overgrown… Read more.

To potentially confuse the Division 1 navigators, the Course Setters have included some red-herring exclusion zones in the south part of the course, including a zone which is very cheekily listed as excluded for Divisions 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 (ie. everyone except Division 1). Will this trick some teams into thinking they’re on the south half of the map?… Read more.
