Div 4 is also shaping up to be very tight. Wamburun has 13km and 500m elevation to go, but on much nicer and faster moving trails than Bruce, who have 12km and 400m elevation to go.
These teams chose entirely different routes immediately out of the drop but I still can't split them! The course setters have done an amazing job to set such close and interesting routes for this div.
Let's not count out Fenner or Burgmann either. B&G 7 and Wright 3 have shown us that gaps can be closed late!

The predictor is now up and running!, at the start will be super volatile and likely under estimate time of arrival just after drop (over estimate eventual overall average GAP (Gradient Adjusted Pace)) as typically teams start off hot/fast (see below graph of speeds of historical IB teams) with it taking time for teams to settle in a rhythm and on a route. It also assumes optimal navving which is probably unlikely, only accounting for the terrain and distance of the optimal route ahead. This means it will also not consider other factors that may slow a team down like a trail being overgrown… Read more.
