Guided by the all-seeing, all-knowing Ollie “The Oracle” James, ex-Bruce imports Maxine “Neo” Wu and Harry “Morpheus” Arnold saw the light and took the “Red” (back) pill, breaking free from their blissful ignorance and delusion of the “Blue” Bruce past. As the saying goes, all good things come in threes, and these two converts flank Milly “Trinity” Hobbs, forming the iconic Div Holy Trinity.
Ollie "The Oracle" James took playing it cool to a whole new level last year, DNF'ing after a hypothermic experience. This year, now equipped with warm toe socks, Ollie is determined to make his mark on Div 3, as his cool, calm and collected approach will lead his team to End Point.
Maxine “Neo” Wu has come back for a second year looking better than ever, this time bringing out her exceptional naving skills. Ready for redemption against Bruce from last year, she comes back with a vengeance to prove once and for all B&G is the better hall.
Milly “Trinity” Hobbs is ready to scout hard and run even harder, guiding the team through highs and lows with her unwavering drive. Her experience running Division 6 last year proved she can tackle any hills the course setters throw at Div 3.
Harrison “Morpheus” Arnold is a new addition to the squad, but don’t let that fool you — Harry is sharp, focused, and quick on his feet (he’ll break your ankles, or his own trying). With his Tasmanian roots — straight out of Launceston and having run UTK last year — he is used to rugged landscapes and pushing past his limits.

Teams have to visit one of 4 checkpoints on course with this one being at Corin Dam, we will try get pictures of teams as they come through these. Only div 3 should pass through here, but teams from Divs 1 and 4 may also go through here if they take the scenic route… Read more.

Division 3 are currently next to a region that is shaded yellow on the IB Live map. This is a Division-specific exclusion zone. The map that the runners have received stipulates that Divisions 2, 3, and 6 are not allowed to pass through this region… Read more.

The Division 3 B&G team have had a relatively slow start to the race. They initially ran north to Brindabella Road, but managed to avoid entering the exclusion zone. It then looked like they could be heading along a whitelisted trail alongside Brindabella Creek. This would have been interesting - it’s not the optimal route, but it would have been nice to see some route-choice variety… Read more.

Division 3’s dropsite is very close to Brindabella Road, an exclusion zone. It looks like B&G and Johns haven’t quite picked their location on the map because they did not turn down Honeysuckle Trail with the rest of the Division… Read more.

This variable window scout time sure caused a stir at the runners briefing. However due to its location on Brindabella Valley Road, it was a necessary design feature of this drop to allow scouts to pick up the same level of information based on visibility. We'll keep you updated on heading south leads to private property. Teams heading North, will have to make an immediate decision to head up Honeysuckle Trail or to Piccadilly Circus via the powerlines adjacent to Brindabella Rd. Heading up Honeysuckle trail is significantly quicker (for the 'average' IB team) (15-45 minutes depending on later route choice), likely as it does not involve the bonus vert required to follow the powerlines unrelenting straight line over spurs, gullies and knolls… Read more.

The predictor is now up and running!, at the start will be super volatile and likely under estimate time of arrival just after drop (over estimate eventual overall average GAP (Gradient Adjusted Pace)) as typically teams start off hot/fast (see below graph of speeds of historical IB teams) with it taking time for teams to settle in a rhythm and on a route. It also assumes optimal navving which is probably unlikely, only accounting for the terrain and distance of the optimal route ahead. This means it will also not consider other factors that may slow a team down like a trail being overgrown… Read more.

It says it excludes divisions 2 & 6 on paper but really only division 3 is effected by this exclusion zone. Making it a significantly more difficult choice to choose whether to head to EP via Stockyard Spur to the Corin Dam CP or to head downhill and through Pierce's creek pine forest… Read more.
