Div 3 Drop

Division 3

5 -15 minutes?

This variable window scout time sure caused a stir at the runners briefing. However due to its location on Brindabella Valley Road, it was a necessary design feature of this drop to allow scouts to pick up the same level of information based on visibility. We'll keep you updated on heading south leads to private property. Teams heading North, will have to make an immediate decision to head up Honeysuckle Trail or to Piccadilly Circus via the powerlines adjacent to Brindabella Rd. Heading up Honeysuckle trail is significantly quicker (for the 'average' IB team) (15-45 minutes depending on later route choice), likely as it does not involve the bonus vert required to follow the powerlines unrelenting straight line over spurs, gullies and knolls.

Sweet Honeysuckle?

Teams heading up Honeysuckle, will have to make another key nav decision when they reach Mt Franklin Rd of whether to find a way to head around the div 3 exclusion zone, via hopefully tactfully selecting the optimal path through Bendora Arboretum (this saves 1.5km hilly km) before heading back up to to Mt Franklin Rd via 'Wombat' and 'Parrot' Rds and onwards to Corin Dam via Stockyard Spur. Teams that navigate this less tactfully risk entering the exclusion zone or running extra kms that remove this route choices advantage.

Teams may also simply head on down to Bendora Rd and into Pierce's Creek (🌲🌲🌲) via Pipeline Rd perhaps bumping into many div 4 teams along the way (this option is forecast to be 15-30 mins slower), but does involve fewer hills so perhaps will attract teams that want a flatter route.

Clowning around via the circus

Going via Piccadilly circus teams whilst technically being able to head up to Corin should head down Old Mill Rd and onto Warks Rd to get into Pierce's Creek via Vanity's Cross this is the slowest of the all the seemingly viable options for this drop.
