Interviews!
Fri 20:42. Posted by Toby Kitchen.
Over the last two weeks, I’ve been interviewing runners and volunteers. You can watch all the interviews as I upload them to youtube here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNIJK5KEsPeRvOGAQ3hR-G0g14l8OqtKT&si=utfCyvNT2CuEtK1v
I'll also be uploading them to IBLive throughout the night but I wanted to give you a brief introduction if you can’t be bothered to watch them. The typical interview went as follows:
Introduce yourselves.
Typical introductions.
Tell me about the event you’re at.
We’re at our final mock/nav drop/team dinner for the season.
Tell me about your experience running and with IB
I like running! It has been fun!
What are you most excited for?
Endpoint, or afters.
What are you least excited for?
The bus ride.
This video will be posted late Friday/early Saturday. Who do you expect to be dotwatching you then?
My mum!
Who has been the most important for your season? Runners, coaches, volunteers?
The coaches have been great.
What's going to keep you going through the hardest parts of the course?
Each other <3
(note: teams did have some great answers to this, which is lucky. For most teams, there is a single hardest part of the course, and that is the Corn Trail.)
Favourite nickname in the squad?
We don’t really have any (or at least, none we’re willing to say on video).
Where's endpoint?
The beach! (unlucky)
Tell me your deepest darkest secret.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh. (I really can’t overstate how long and awkward the silence was when I asked this question. I showed the teams the other questions beforehand, but kept this one as a surprise, and consistently I had to cut 60+ seconds of silence before I got an answer.)
