Stockyard Spur

While we wait for Div 7 to make their moves, I'm going to try and describe how brutal Stockyard Spur is going to be for Div 3 and our western batch of Div 1 and 4 teams.
Stockyard is a Canberra staple and a coach's "avoid-unless-unavoidable" sort of hill. It doesn't matter if you're going up or down....it will hurt! This year they're going down, and in just 2.2km, they're going to lose 500m of elevation down to Corrin Dam. That's like running the same distance from the Black Mountain summit to the Substation, but twice as steep!
The teams that go too fast down will find their quads feeling like jelly at the bottom and could find themselves in strife on the uphill sealed road towards Square Rock. I think the teams that take their time going down Stockyard will put themselves in the best position to smoke the back end of their race
