Will they make it?

Watching these dots is making me nervous!

Let’s look at the southern Endpoint approach. After KUWC and Fenner 3 made it home just then, there remains only one team along this route: Bruce Division 7. They are just over 6km/400m+ away.

Bruce is going to be cutting it very, very fine. They’ve got 50 minutes left. Other teams have made the climb in less, but Bruce has been travelling at a slower pace throughout the race. Will the impending cutoff provide them with enough motivation to push through?

Unfortunately, Yukeembruk 4, who are still soldiering on towards Endpoint, cannot possibly arrive before cutoff time.

In the north, there are many more teams hoping to arrive in time. This is the more difficult of the two Endpoint approaches for sure, and these teams are going to struggle. It’s likely that all the teams up to and including the Division 1/7 cluster will make it. If B&G 3 push, they’re in for a chance. Beyond that, it’s very unlikely that the remaining teams can make it through.

Regardless, every single team that is still out there on the course (and indeed, every team that set foot on the course today) has done an amazing job that they should be very proud of. It’s brutal out there.
